Streaming Applications (SaaS)
What is Application Streaming?
Application streaming is an alternative to installing applications locally on individual
PC’s.
As an alternative to completely installing a Windows®-based program on a PC or lengthy
downloads from the internet, the application is streamed from a central server where
only the parts of the application required by the user are installed for immediate
use. As additional functionality is required by the user these portions of the application
are streamed on demand. When the user has finished with the application, they can
choose to completely remove all components from the client, as if the application
was never there.
Somewhere between 10% and 20% of any given Windows application needs to reside on
a staff member's system most of the time. If a staff member's system is connected
to the "application streaming" portal using a broadband network, going from zero
to application in use could require only a few seconds of time. When that staff
member doesn't need the application it could either 1) stay around for the next
use or 2) be removed from their system and go back into the organization's license
pool.

What is Software as a Service?
Software as a Service (Saas) is a modern delivery model where organizations and
individuals pay for software applications by actual usage rather than purchasing
specific licenses. Until recently, SaaS was considered a delivery model of the future.
It has now matured to a high level of acceptance and usability for a growing customer
base that realizes the cost-saving benefits of a software subscription model. Many
consider SaaS to be the next generation of the ASP (Application Service Provision)
model, which concentrated on Web applications.
What are the main benefits of SaaS?
The main benefit of accessing products via SaaS is that its very cost effective.
Both large and small companies like to gain economically viable access to complex
technology that was traditionally either hard to deploy, out of their price bracket
or too resource hungry to deploy on large scale projects. Because access to products
served via SaaS is deployed securely over the internet they are available 24x7x365.
Monthly Cost
SaaS provides a multitude of benefits to businesses who adopt this approach to implementing
their often mission critical business applications. The obvious benefit upfront
is the lack of capital expenditure both in terms of software and hardware infrastructure,
avoiding a hit to cash flow whilst gaining definite tax advantages by making your
software provision an operating cost.
Flexibility
Using application streaming technology from Cybertrak users can theoretically work
anywhere.
No Hassle
This is one of the major benefits of SaaS.
